of all right in the chamber behind the church, which formerly belonged to Hugh de Braiton, deceased, situated between the land belonging to the church on the north and the land of Sir Richard de Bernyngham, knight, on the south.
As their seals were unknown, they procured the attachment of the seal of the dean of Christianity of York.

Grant by Thomas de Loudham, vicar of St Martin, Coney Street to John de Burgh, chaplain, of all chambers with the ground supporting their posts, which he had had newly built, lying between the tenement of Sir Richard de Bernyngham on the south and the manse of the vicar on the north, and between the churchyard in front and the tenement of the said Sir Richard behind, together with
all easements; rendering to the chief lord of the fee a clove each year at Christmas, if demanded, and 13d. of silver to the vicar of St Martin’s and the chaplains ministering there on the day of his death (namely ld.
in the name of an oblation and 12d. for a potation among the said vicar and chaplains), so that they might preserve in prayers the memory of him, his parents, and his
benefactors, Hugh de Brayton, deacon, John and Eve, the latter’s parents; with power to distrain by the vicar and chaplains if the rent of 13d should be in arrears.

Street, by the high altar as he had decreed. To
Katherine, wife of John de Clapeham and the heirs of her body, his chamber in the churchyard of St Martin, Coney
Street, as it lay between the houses of the vicar on one side and the houses of Sir William de Scrop, knight, on the other; also his houses in Aldwark, which he had
of the grant and feoffment of John son of John Clervaux; also an annual rent of 10/- from the houses once belonging to William de Esyngwald in the street of St
Saviour, York, which he had of the grant of William, Thomas, Simon, and John, sons of William de Esyngwald; rendering each year to the chantry chaplain at the’•altar of St Mary in the church of St Martin, which Thomas de
Loudham had founded, 13/4d at Martinmas and Whitsun, and 10/- of silver for his dwelling house, unless the said
chamber in St Martin’s churchyard were so used; with remainder in default of such heirs to Agnes, Katherine’s sister, and the heirs of her body; with remainder likewise to Nicholas de Burton her brother; and remainder to the testator’s executors and the vicar of
St Martin or to the vicar alone with the consent of the parishioners if the executors should die, to be sold and the proceeds distributed for pious purposes.
To the canons of York Minster £46/13/4d, then in the hands of the abbot of St Mary’s, York, as appeared by a bond, 40 marks to be paid for the fabric of the Minster and £20 to the chapter for any purpose they should wish.
Appointment of Adam de Munkgate, chaplain, Roger de Seleby, and William de Gyllyng, chaplain, as executors.
The residue of his goods to Nicholas de Burton, and in the event of his death as the executors should determine for the good of the testator’s soul.

7. Memorandum, in cyrograph form, recording that if, as was said, Thomas Londham bequeathed by his testament in 1349 the chambers in St Martin’s churchyard in Coney Street, he did so unjustly, because more than 8 years previously he had granted them to a certain chaplain, John, by his
charter in the presence of the mayor of York, and John granted them by his charter in fee tail to the sons of his sister, five in number, and they held the premises until Thomas Loudham’s death at the time of the first
mortality (i.e. the Black Death) and more than 10 years afterwards; and Thomas therefore had no right therein when he made his testament.
